Despite my love for the more obscure Olympic sports, my deepest appreciation for any Olympic sport lies in gymnastics. Gymnastics has claimed a spot as one of the most high-profile Olympic events, and for good reason. Look at that vine of Aly Raisman I posted up there. That is absolutely FREAKISH athleticism. Between the floor exercise, the parallel bars, the balance beam, the uneven bars, and all of the other events that I can't think of right now, the incredible upper body strength and flexibility of these athletes is put on full display during the Olympics. I can't find any clips from these Olympics because the IOC sucks, but next time gymnastics is on, look at how easy it is for these people to lift their legs above their head or how they can hold themselves up on a bar using literally nothing but their arms because they get penalized for using their legs. It is absolutely astounding.
In short, the Olympics are a celebration of the world's best athletes, and in terms of athleticism, gymnasts, are the best.
Except for the Chinese women, I'm pretty sure they're all actually 13 years old and China is lying to all of us telling us that they're actually 16.
