-Overall record on the day: 3-2. I'm very happy with this result, especially because I started out 0-2 on the day. Ride Tommy, baby!
-Arizona +2.5 vs. BYU. I thought for sure if Arizona was going to cover this spread, they would win outright. Luckily, I decided to take the points rather than the money line, because the Wildcats covered by the skin of their teeth and put me up a unit.
-Tulsa -5.5 vs. San Jose St. The "always bet against (city name) State" rule worked to perfection here, and Tulsa put a 35 point BEATDOWN on SJSU.
-Kent St. +22 vs. Penn St. This one was another nailbiter (for a gambler at least). Penn St. won this one by 20, and were a mere field goal away from putting me in a hole to start the season.
-Oklahoma -11.5 vs. Houston. I should have known that Houston would cover. Oklahoma hasn't won a big game in the longest time. They looked flat and Houston took advantage and rolled on them. I hereby vow never to bet on Oklahoma in a big matchup again (this probably isn't true)
-Bowling Green +28 vs. Ohio St. Hooooooo boy was I wrong about this one. It seemed to me like last year, Ohio St. would win consistently, but they never covered the spread. I thought that momentum would carry over into the opener this year, but I've never been more wrong about something in my entire life. Ohio St. won by 67 points. SIXTY FUCKING SEVEN POINTS! Bowling Green looked like they were a high school team. I was embarrassed for them. I don't know how they're even gonna come back from this.
I think I'm gonna try to make this a weekly blog and see if I end up any richer or poorer on the season. Until next week, stay drunk and irresponsible with your money.
