According to the police report, the woman told the officer she was sending a Snapchat picture to her boyfriend just before the crash.
The officer wrote in the report that he had parked his patrol vehicle in the southbound outside lane in the 2500 block of East Villa Maria Road with the rear emergency lights on while he investigated a disturbance call.
While interviewing people related to that call, a sport utility vehicle crashed into the rear of the patrol car around 8:30 p.m., the report says.
As the officer approached the SUV, he observed Miranda Kay Rader with her bra unfastened trying to put her shirt back on. She told the officer that she was driving back to her dorm on campus and had been sending a Snapchat picture to her boyfriend while stopped at a red light, according to the police report.
Rader, who told the officer she was not injured, also had an open bottle of wine in the vehicle, the report says.
She failed parts of a field sobriety test, according to the officer's report, and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.
She was charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container, a Class B misdemeanor, and ticketed for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
The 19-year-old is listed as a freshman in the Texas A&M student directory. She was released from the Brazos County Jail Thursday morning after posting $2,000 bail.
Before we start this one off, I'm gonna get serious for a second. I know we like to kid around here, but drunk driving really isn't cool. Pick a designated driver at the beginning of the night, call a cab or an Uber, walk home, whatever. If you're drunk, don't get behind the wheel of a car. It negatively affects everyone involved.
Now, onto the funny stuff. I'm just gonna say what we're all thinking here: I need to see these pictures that she was taking. No, not because of the naked girl, you perverts (Okay, a little bit because of the naked girl). No, I need to see the pictures because can you imagine how hilarious they are? Can you imagine this girl's face when she rolled into the cop car? That's a picture that says at least 4,000 words.
Apparently this girl was also a little tipsy when she hit this car, because the officer saw an open bottle of red wine. Do you think she wasn't paying attention to the road at all, or do you think she saw the pretty light and her dumb drunk brain told her to drive toward it? There's honestly a pretty good chance that the latter happened rather than the former. I know some girls (yeah I know girls, not to brag or anything) that are some of the smartest people I know when they're sober. Then, they take three shots and their brains turn into big bowls of spaghetti. There's no rhyme or reason to what they say or do, they just act immediately based on whatever pops into their heads. I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what happened here. Where a sober mind would simply look at the cop car with its lights on and wonder, "what's going on over there?" a drunk girl's mind would tell her body to drive the car directly at the scene. This story actually reminds me of something that would happen in one of the later seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where Larry is dating some girl who's sending him nudes for the first time and then she hits the cop car and he gets blamed for it. *cue theme music*
