Johnson’s $64.5 million payday more than doubled his 2015 earnings, making him this year’s biggest dollar gainer. The erstwhile wrestler’s millions and millions came from upfront fees for movies including Central Intelligence and Fast 8, as well as the forthcoming Baywatch in which he’s set to play Mitch Buchannon. A staple of the Fast and Furious franchise, the stellar box office performance of his recent films (including 2015’s hit San Andreas) have seen his quotes skyrocket.
“I can kick ass better than anyone on the planet,” Johnson told FORBES in 2012. “And I have a decent smile.”
He bested second-ranked Jackie Chan ($61 million), who mints money with movies in China, and Matt Damon, who tallied $55 million largely off the success of The Martian to boost his earnings 120% year over year. Rounding out the top five is perennial list member Tom Cruise (No. 4, $53 million) and Johnny Depp (No. 5, $48 million).
Bang! The most electric man in show business is now the highest-paid. Can you imagine making $64.5 MILLION in one year? I bet at that point it's not even fun when you put on a pair of pants that you left money in and find it later on when you put the pants back on. Here's a list of things I would do if I had $64.5 million suddenly appear in my bank account:
-Hair transplant surgery (obviously)
-Never do laundry again. Strictly new clothes, Allen Iverson on a road trip style.
-Buy a lifetime supply of Froot Loops.
-Fund a medical expedition to figure out a way that I could get jacked without working out or using steroids
-Start a committee to making public urination legal
-Remove the stigmas on peeing in the shower and picking your nose
I'm sure there are about 50 more things I could think of if I sat here and just wrote about the weird things I would like to have. However, I'm lazy and the deeper I go into my brain, the less any of you would want to associate with me.
P.S. How about Jackie Chan coming from out of nowhere to take the second spot? I feel like that man hasn't made a movie since like 2008 and here he is raking in $61 million. Good for you Jackie Chan.
