Parents took pictures as they spotted the young man in question putting on a uniform on the sideline during the game in Scituate over the weekend.
He suited up at halftime for the Capital City Buccaneers who were losing. He went onto the field and took part in several plays before getting kicked out.
“I was more furious and embarrassed and ashamed that they did that,” Buccaneers founder Alexandra Diaz told NBC 10 News. “The coach told me it was his decision. It was his mistake. He feels sorry.”
Diaz said she fired the coach and ended the team's season as a result. She said the illegal player is the older brother of a player on the team.
You guys have no idea how much I wish I was given this opportunity at some point in my life. There's a reason Danny Almonte decided to strike all those little fuckers out in the Little League World Series back in the day: it's because it's fucking awesome to step onto a field or court and know you're the absolute best at what you're doing. LeBron James probably feels it before every single game he plays. It's a rare feeling for the average joe. There are a lot of people who never get that opportunity. This dude with the weird poofy ponytail saw his opportunity, and he took full advantage.
The coach who sent the adult man out the play against the thirteen year-olds is probably one of the world's most psychotic competitors. If I'm the athletic director of a local high school whose football team has been struggling in recent years, I'm taking note. This is a man who will do absolutely everything in his power to win. He knows that if you're not cheating, you're not trying. This guy is like Jim Harbaugh if Harbaugh were less talented and stuck in the northeastern United States.
